Founder

Mrs. Gloria Adaba is the founder of Thumbs up initiative; a Non-Governmental Organization focused on building competent future Leaders. She is a people person, with a strong passion focused on serving and developing youth. This passion was born out of her life experiences growing up. She has been able to turn her childhood and teen experiences into tools with which she can help young people understand and grow themselves.

She is a Toastmaster per excellence; Toastmasters is an international public speaking and leadership development club, where she has been rated a competent communicator and an advanced Leader. She’s the coordinator of the first ever Nigerian Toastmasters Youth Leadership development program; in Victoria Island Junior Secondary School, Lagos Nigeria; where she trained over 35 students in the art of public speaking and leadership. Her efforts were recognized in the July 2017 edition of the Toastmasters International magazine.

She returned to the school to train the students as the Founder of Thumbsup initiative and her initiative was awarded a pollination project grant; This grant was also posted on the Huffington post newspaper.

Gloria has held seminars and workshops in Caleb International Secondary school, Magodo, Lagos Nigeria and has been featured on several youth radio shows and events. She is currently a student of the John Maxwell Leadership Team, where she along with other team members held a John Maxwell Teal Global Youth Initiative on the 19th and 20th of April 2018 in Lekki, Lagos state, Nigeria.

Gloria is also very passionate about the environment and contributes in preserving it via waste management. A graduate of polymer technology from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger state and a Polymer Engineering Distinction Masters’ degree holder from the London Metropolitan University.

She is an environmentalist with a passion for recycling. She is married to Mr. Onimisi Adaba and together they are parents of three great leaders.
